How it runs
How radiology report and image delivery to referring providers works
One signed report, from the reading system to the referring office and the patient. Each step names the part of Gravity that does it.
| Step | What happens | Feature | Done by | Mode |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 01 | The signed report arrives as an HL7 result or a PDF and attaches to the right order. | Results in | Gravity Developer | |
| 02 | The report goes to the referring provider by fax on its own the moment it is signed, and again on amendment, with every send on record. | Report back to the referring office | Gravity Referral | Automated |
| 03 | Offices on the portal have the report and the images the minute the read is signed. | Reports and images in the portal | Gravity Referral | |
| 04 | When the report is signed, the patient is sent a text link to read and download it, open shared images and read their lay letter in the portal. | Results and lay letters to the patient | Gravity Visit | Automated |
| 05 | From the signed report, the follow-up order is created, the lay letter sent and patients due for screening recalled, on the schedule MQSA requires. | Breast tracking and recall | Gravity Grow | Agentic |
| 06 | The patient's result page shows each recommendation with a button to book the follow-up. | Patient books the follow-up | Gravity Booking |
That's the order finished. That's how the next order arrives.

Questions
Questions about report delivery
How does radiology image sharing with referring providers work?
Offices on Gravity Referral, the referring physician portal, have the finished report and the images for their patient in the portal the minute the read is signed. Offices not on the portal get the signed report by fax.
Does Gravity read the images?
No. We don't read the scan. We make sure it gets back.
What happens when a report is amended?
The amended report goes to the referring provider again, on its own, with every send on record.
Can patients see their report?
Yes. When the report is signed, the patient gets a text link to read and download it, open shared images and read their lay letter in the portal.
How are breast imaging follow-ups handled?
Gravity reads the BI-RADS score, recall interval, density and recommendation from the signed report, creates the follow-up order, sends the lay letter and recalls patients due for screening, on the schedule MQSA requires.
